Late Autumn Proposal & Engagement Session in Red River Gorge, Kentucky
Okay, this session was a blast! Kennedy (the one proposing) and I had been in contact for months, emailing back and forth about how to set up the best proposal for Jada. The two were actually already engaged, but it had been two years and Kennedy wanted to re-propose with a fancier ring, go big and totally surprise her! All our plans came together perfectly anddd she said yes, for the 2nd time, of course.
We met at an overlook in Red River Gorge, I had scouted the day before to make sure that the lighting and setting would be just right. Kennedy had told Jada that they were going to look at cows that day (hahaha) and as they pulled in to park, Kennedy told her that actually she had booked an engagement session with me. Jada was totally surprised and even more shocked when, a couple mins into our photoshoot, Kennedy got down on one knee and presented a gorgeous ring. It was just the most beautiful moment to be able to capture.
The excitement and love these two have for each other is so precious! After the proposal, we hiked to a secret woodsy spot for more photos, then wrapped up at Skybridge, which is one of my favorite spots for sunset photos.
We all had the best time, shout out to Hannah Ours for taking a few of the different angles and tagging along (her car broke down while we were camping out in Red River Gorge, so she was stuck with me….but that’s a story I’ll save for another day!) I’m stoked because I’ll also be doing Jada and Kennedy’s elopement in Joshua Tree, CA! If you know me, you know that’s a dream and I’m so grateful to be capturing all these moments for them. And glad that we’re getting to work with each other more, because they are both just the kindest, most hilarious people!
Here’s the sweetest review that Kennedy left for me on google after their shoot:
“Kendra is absolutely amazing. I contacted Kendra about capturing my proposal to my fiancée in Red River Gorge, she responded swiftly, walked me through how she typically does things (since this was my first time working with a photographer this was incredibly helpful), emailed back-and-forth throughout the whole process, and provided me with her expertise on everything from the proposal spot to our outfits. Kendra was incredibly professional, personable, flexible, and just a wonderful photographer. She captured our special moment and so much more. We received our photos and our jaws literally dropped, they turned out beautiful. I cannot recommend working with Kendra enough.” — Kennedy
PS: Jada was 100% convinced they were going to look at cows and was low key disappointed when they didn’t lol!
PPS: I shot 35mm film for this shoot too and you can see some of those shots sprinkled in with digital!
