Right now, so many couples are being forced to reschedule their weddings due to Coronavirus and many of them are being encouraged to choose a Friday or a Sunday wedding.

At first glance, a Friday or Sunday may seem like an odd day to get married . . . but I’m here to tell you that there are some major perks.

Oh and all the photos in this post are from non-Saturday weddings . . . it’s actually more common than people think and here’s why!

Tip 1 —

I think the biggest reason couples choose Saturdays is because it’s more convenient for guests. I get that, it is! There are some perks too though. If you have guests coming from out of town, plane tickets and hotel rooms should be much cheaper. Chances are, if you have guests coming from out of town, they’re already taking the day beforehand off to travel.

Another perk is that guests can take a mini vacation or trip to explore the city where you’re getting married! For example, if your wedding is here in Louisville, they’ll have more weekend time to take a bourbon distillery tour, visit Churchill downs or the Slugger Museum. There’s a bunch of other things to do besides that here in Louisville . . . . (maybe I should do a blog post on that next?)

Tip 2 —

Wedding vendors are much more likely to have availability on those Sunday and Friday dates vs a Saturday. There’s a good chance that they will have discounted rates as well. Ask them to check!

Tip 3 —

If you’re a party person and so are your guests, a Friday may be even more ideal than a Saturday! Then they won’t be traveling back the next day and will have a day off to refresh. OR if you’re not a party person (like me haha), a Sunday makes the perfect excuse for guests to leave a little earlier. I had a Sunday wedding and it was perfect! Chances are that the people who you love most will stay late and party with you anyways.

In my opinion, Sundays are going to feel the most laid back while Fridays can be a little bit more formal and you’ll have that “party vibe”. A Sunday wedding would be perfect for a brunch wedding too!

Tip 4 —

Embrace the uniqueness of having a Friday or Sunday wedding! Lean into the more “laid back” vibes. Enjoy some extra time together with your family and guests. Maybe you can plan a fun Saturday activity together after or before the wedding!

When it comes down to it, the people who love you most will celebrate with you on your wedding day — no matter what day of the week it is. In the end, that and marrying your spouse is all that matters.
